Remembering Mam’ Winnie

On this day one year ago, South Africa mourned the loss of struggle icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela after she succumbed to a long illness at a hospital in Johannesburg.

In her memory, family and friends held a wreath-laying ceremony at Mam’ Winnie’s final resting place at Fourways Memorial Park.

The rest of the country took to wearing doeks in her honour as was done after the nation learned for her passing last year.
