DStv is introducing a new package structure in South Africa from 17 September 2026, bringing changes to its entertainment and sports offerings.
The changes have attracted significant attention, with South Africans searching for information about the new DStv packages, prices and channel line-ups.
Under the new structure, DStv will offer packages including Starter, Select, Sports, Movies & Series and Premium. Existing customers will be automatically migrated to the new packages from 17 September, meaning most subscribers will not need to take any action.
DStv Starter will cost R99 per month for streaming customers and R150 for satellite customers. It will offer more than 85 channels.
DStv Select will start at R299 per month on Stream and R339 per month via satellite, with more than 100 channels, including Mzansi Magic and SuperSport PSL.
For sports fans, the new DStv Sports package will replace Compact. It will cost R399 per month on Stream and R479 per month via satellite, offering more than 115 channels.
DStv is also introducing a Movies & Series package at R500 per month for both streaming and satellite customers. The package will include entertainment channels such as M-Net, M-Net Movies+ and kykNET.
DStv Premium will remain available at R799 per month on Stream and R979 per month via satellite.
The new structure is designed to give customers more flexibility in choosing packages based on whether they primarily watch sport or entertainment.
Customers can check their new package and available channels through the MyDStv app or DStv’s website ahead of the changes taking effect.
