WC to fund training, deploy 3,000 new officers

The Western Cape plans to take big steps towards ensuring the safety of its people.

WC Premier Alan Winde announced that the provincial government intended to put over R1 billion towards training 3,000 new law enforcement officers and 150 new investigators. 1,000 officers will be deployed within this year upon completing their training.

Winde said the ever-rising rates of violent crimes in the Western Cape remained a huge challenge that the province would continuously work to curtail.
