A true Documentary gem has emerged on Apple TV+s streaming platform, a quite terrific discovery for nature lovers or human beings in general. It is a nature documentary that is charming and timely. The Year Earth Changed, highlights the silver lining from the pandemic which shows how the animal kingdom benefitted from the withdrawal of their less pleased human co-habitants that were under lockdown.

This is undoubtedly one of the most exquisite nature documentaries I have ever seen, my only gripe is that it may be a little too short.

The film looks at various animal kingdoms around the Earth which have experienced positive changes due to the lessened impact on the environment thanks to Covid-19 which kept many humans home bound.

Penguins, whales, cheetahs, monkeys, deer, sea turtles, hundreds of precious creatures have seen incredible prosperity while we were asked to stay at home.

David Attenborough, who very recently celebrated his 95th birthday, has once again charmed us with the beauty of nature and has provided an outstanding, detailed, calm, honest and precise account of our beautiful world.

The script is not only smart and engaging but it shares many practical long-term solutions for us to consider as our duty towards the Earth as we step outside again.

Due to a surprisingly short runtime of under an hour, you may be feeling hungry for more as it truly teases our hearts and minds with the wonderful world we live in. Nevertheless, it is a great watch that’s equally fascinating as it is educational. There are moments of tension and joy that really add to the rollercoaster of this well produced film.

The film is insightful and incredibly short. It highlights many beautiful countries around the world from South America to Cape Town, South Africa, showing unprecedented behaviour from whales and birds communicating in never before heard sounds and penguins stepping out intrepidly into town for a stroll.

It is truly inspiring to see that animals of many kinds are not only surviving but thriving as we stay at home. An amazing revelation for us, that even in a global pandemic, the persevering harmony of nature prevails and excels.
