Ukhanyo Foundation Empowering the Youth on Southern Africa’s Youth Day

In celebration of Southern Africa’s Youth Day, the Ukhanyo Foundation, a dedicated Non-Profit Organization, spearheaded an inspiring event at the Philippi Village Community Centre to empower the youth on 14 June 2024.

Founded in 2019 by Sandiswa Gwele, the Ukhanyo Foundation aims to break the cycle of poverty in Southern Africa by addressing youth unemployment. The foundation provides academic support for matric rewrites, self-development programs, and career pathway guidance to ensure a brighter future for the youth in the Philippi community.

The day was filled with activities designed to foster unity, resilience, and hope among the youth. As children played soccer, their laughter echoed under the cloudy skies of Cape Town, bringing warmth to the day. Students eagerly awaited the commencement of game day, creating an atmosphere of excitement and camaraderie.

Volunteers from Shincheonji Church of Jesus joined the Ukhanyo Foundation staff to engage in an educational tour of Philippi Village, interactive learner engagement sessions, and cooperative activities aimed at inspiring and empowering the younger generation. This collaboration aimed to nurture the potential of the youth and encourage them to become future leaders who will positively impact their communities.

The Ukhanyo Foundation expressed enthusiasm about the event and looks forward to future collaborations with Shincheonji Volunteers, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in creating opportunities for youth development.

The event concluded with a symbolic ceremony, highlighting the unity and solidarity between the Ukhanyo Foundation and Shincheonji Volunteers. This ceremony reinforced their commitment to supporting youth initiatives in Southern Africa, underscoring the shared dedication to fostering a brighter future for the region’s young people.
