Passport Tips for Festive Travel: How to Make Sure Your Passport Is Ready to Fly

As millions of travellers prepare to reunite with family and friends during the festive season, Qatar Airways is encouraging passengers to check that their passports are travel-ready before heading to the airport.

A damaged, expired or incomplete passport can result in delays, denied boarding or refused entry at your destination. To help travellers avoid unnecessary stress, the airline has shared five simple tips to keep your passport fit to fly.

Store your passport safely in a dedicated holder or secure pocket to reduce the risk of tears, stains or other damage that could affect its validity.

Check your passport’s expiry date well in advance of travel and ensure it meets the validity requirements of the country you are visiting, as many destinations require passports to remain valid for several months after arrival.

Make sure there are enough blank pages available for entry and exit stamps, as some countries require a minimum number of empty pages before allowing entry.

Inspect your passport for any damage, including torn pages, missing pages, water damage or stains, as immigration authorities may reject damaged travel documents.

Finally, review your passport and travel documents early to allow enough time to replace or renew them if necessary, avoiding costly last-minute changes and travel disruptions.

Travellers are also encouraged to check the latest entry requirements directly with the relevant government authorities before departure, as travel regulations can change at short notice.
