Captain Siya Kolisi became the fifth experienced Stormers player to leave the Super Rugby competition due to injuries.
Kolisi returned home as per Springbok resting protocols, and will therefore miss the match against the Rebels in Melbourne on Friday. SP Marais, Chris van Zyl, Eben Etzebeth and Pieter-Stephy du Toit were also booked off on injuries.
Coach Robbie Fleck called up centre Dan Kriel and hooker Chad Solomons as replacements.
