The department of education in the Kingdom of Cambodia, Asia signs a memorandum of understanding with international peace organization Heavenly Culture, World Peace and Restoration of Light (HWPL).
HWPL established a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Education of Cambodia in 2018 to introduce nationwide peace education and develop related policies and programs. Along with these efforts government officials and civic groups are also seeking ways to drive principles of peace, based on the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW), in their communities.
Young people are the most affected by violence especially in schools where violence is rife. If children are not harming each other by stabbing each other or shooting each other, they are being victimized and violated by teachers. In most cases in the continent of Africa, young people are victims of being used for crimes and to participate in fighting war at a young age without their will. The peace curriculum ensures that the youth acquire knowledge and skills needed for the promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence.
To date, HWPL has cooperated with various schools and educational institutions worldwide to promote skills of peacemaking. Out of the 127 schools from 9 different countries that voluntarily became HWPL Peace Academies, 12 schools from Southern African region signed the Memorandum of Understanding. Among them are Cape Town schools Liesbeeck Primary, Bonteheuwel High School, Holy Cross Girls High School School as well as Universidade Jean Piaget de Moçambique in Mozambique.
The chairman of HWPL Man Hee Lee will be in the Kingdom of Cambodia on the 21st February 2019 to officiate the grand opening ceremony of the HWPL Department of Peace Education at the Royal University of Phnom Penh. The chairman will appeal to the nation of Cambodia to make even greater strides to transcend nationality, race, religion, and all ideologies, so that everyone can live together in a world of peace. HWPL and the Great Supreme Patriarch of Kingdom of Cambodia have worked together on various platforms to achieve peace.
