A stylist in your pocket: the modern woman’s secret weapon of choice

As women, we’ve all been there. That important meeting with your boss or special date for your anniversary is looming dangerously close and your wardrobe’s potential to impress is as exciting as the Kalahari in August.

Regardless, you put your shoulders back, lift your chin, and begin the process of trying to find something to wear. Once you’ve narrowed down the top three variations amid a bedroom that now resembles a Hiroshima aftermath, you turn to your fashion council which usually consists of your closest friend, a family member, and that one friend who always says it as it is. A woman’s personal fashion council is an integral part of her life and serves to prevent, or at least diminish, the occurrence of a fashion faux pas.

But what in the world is a girl to do when her fashion council is not around?

Fortunately, knowing very well that women across the world are finding themselves in this situation, former customer banker, Rachel Bashala has created a solution that ensures that no woman, or man for that matter, ever has to go through the daunting experience of worrying about what to wear and stepping out into the world without a trusted second opinion.

Rachel’s brilliant solution comes in the form of an app called My Stylist, which allows women to have their very own stylist in the palm of their hands. Efficient and pleasantly user-friendly, the app requires you to simply upload a picture of the first take of your outfit and almost instantly you will receive guidance from Rachel over the app’s chat platform on how to complete or polish your look according to the occasion.

The app has grown in popularity since its launch in 2016, extending far beyond South African borders and reaching customers in Asia, Europe and South America. But what we love most about the app is the way Rachel has been able to assist women in a way that goes beyond simply helping them complete their look. She has also been a great source of encouragement and has seen how the app has helped women to feel more confident.
