The Curtain Call of a Beloved Veteran

If you are ever looking for the best place to watch movies at an affordable price in Cape Town, The Labia Theatre is the place to go. From the old-school feel of this theatre to its bespoke perks and atmosphere, you won’t be disappointed. Alas, the ambiance has changed with the times following the final curtain call of the beloved Sedick “Boeta Dickie” Tassiem.

Known as a veteran of the arts in Cape Town, Boeta Dickie succumbed to COVID-19 complications at the ripe age of 81. If one ever saw him at The Labia Theatre, you would understand why the ambiance will no longer be the same. His impeccable sense of style and heartwarming singing to the patrons made one’s visit to The Labia that much more special. Boeta Dickie was well accustomed to performances at tourist attractions around Cape Town while also being afforded the opportunity to travel abroad because of his musical talents.

Boeta Dickie will be remembered by the minstrels community for his friendly nature and eccentric sense of style.
