Events in CT to beat winter woes

We know how the winter woes go. When the temperature dips, the urge to stay home and keep warm soars. So allow us to give you three reasons to leave your place this weekend: food, clothes and music.

Starting with Good Night Fridays at the V&A Waterfront on Friday from 6-9pm. This event will be jam packed with creatives showcasing their work, entertainment for days and food, glorious food.

Expect to see performances from the likes of Jimmy Nevis and DJ Dario among nine other artists scattered across the Silo District, Watershed, Food Market, and Pierhead.

On Saturday, between 9am and 2pm, you could either head down to the Royal Cape Yatch Club in Cape Town to check out the vintage clothing, sailing items and other products on sale, while enjoying baked goods, good food and live music at their Dockside Winter Market. If that’s not enough to get you out of bed, guess what? Entry is free.

Alternatively, you could check out the Fashion and Thrift Market at the Goodwood Sports Club. You could go simply to delight in the delicious Halaal food, and the bargain-priced thrift fashion and home décor items. Or you could take some things along to trade at the market. More good news: there’s free entry and parking.

Then to bring the weekend to a close, head on over to Trenchtown in Observatory for this month’s Tropical Thrift Fest on Sunday. Between the pineapples, the festival wear and the vibes, you’ll wonder if you’re even still in Mzansi.

The festivities begin at 1:30pm and if you’re one of the first 25 people to arrive, you get a lei. R30 gets you in.
