Cape Town Navy Festival Returns After Seven Years

After a seven-year hiatus, Cape Town’s much-loved Navy Festival had a triumphant comeback on 4-6 October 2024. Held in Simon’s Town, this long-standing tradition showcased the expertise and strength of the South African Navy, offering visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of maritime defence. Since the last festival in 2017, many have eagerly awaited its return, making this year’s revival all the more special.

One of the major highlights of the Navy Festival was the chance to explore the Navy’s fleet. Visitors toured some of the most formidable ships in the South African Navy, from imposing frigates to sleek submarines. For many, it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience these mighty vessels up close and gain insight into their crucial role in protecting South Africa’s waters.
